Keller Associates performed site civil design for the Veterans Administration Special Care Tower Addition to Building 85 at the Veterans Hospital in Boise, Idaho. The project site is located in a congested old portion of the complex with elaborate utility conflicts and drainage challenges for the design team.

Keller was instrumental in developing unique methods to locate and adjust the existing utilities to allow construction of the new expansion to the hospital facility. Because the facility is a hospital, special attention was given to provide accessibility throughout the site in excess of requirements established by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

The site work includes relocation of water, sewer, fire service, and steam systems as well as communication conduits and cables. New utility services for the new 14,000 square foot tower were also provided. The stormwater drainage was handled by installing an infiltration detention structure underneath the existing parking lot.

Total Project Cost: $4,000,000
