TMWA, Disc Drive Booster Station
Keller was hired by TMWA to design the new 15,500-gallon-per-minute facility that included civil, mechanical, electrical, controls, and structural design. In addition to a very tight site, extensive coordination was required with multiple stakeholders, including the City of Sparks, to minimize impacts to a nearby school. The project also included installing more than 2,000 feet of 20-inch to 30-inch diameter offsite piping. The majority of the piping was installed in an arterial roadway and intersection, meaning 24/7 construction work was needed to minimize traffic impacts. The booster pump station included three 200 horsepower pumps which required a new transformer and large supporting electrical gear.
