MSE Retaining Wall
Third Fork Road runs adjacent to Squaw Creek. Keller Associates worked with the County to identify and correct one problematic section of roadway with steep slopes on both sides of the road, erosion from Squaw Creek, a spring that saturates the soils, and a narrow driving surface.
Keller designed the dimensions and performance specifications for a “Hilfiker” gabian basket wall to correct the deficiencies in the roadway. Keller then assisted the County in securing a contractor and performing construction engineering and inspection.
Cost: $90,000
Project Features:
- Core drilling to determine bedrock elevations and soil characteristics
- Forest Service Resource Advisory Committee (RAC) grant
- Mechanically stabilized earthen wall and roadway restoration
