Boise Greenbelt, Main to Americana
This greenbelt project consisted of designing a new pathway along the south side of the Boise River and connecting existing pathways in Garden City to Ann Morrison Park — this was the last unbuilt segment of the Boise River Greenbelt. This segment remained unbuilt due to its cost and complexity. In addition to the pathway, the project included two tunnels (one beneath Main Street and one beneath Fairview Avenue), hundreds of feet of retaining walls, and a bridge across Settlers Canal.
Work included public involvement, ROW assistance, project design (including structural underpass), environmental, utility relocations, hydraulic analysis, floodplain permitting, no-rise certification, geotechnical, and electrical services. The project involved significant coordination with ITD, ACHD, Settlers Irrigation District, and numerous utility companies. This project was the winner of the ASCE Outstanding Civil Engineering Achievement Award for the Southern Idaho Section in the Project of the Year Completed Under $10 Million Category as well as First Place for Special Projects in the ACEC Idaho Engineering Excellence Awards.
