The City of Rigby Downtown has recently experienced a facelift that has transformed the look and appeal of four city blocks. Rigby Urban Renewal Agency’s ultimate goal was to make a warm and inviting atmosphere that encouraged people to stroll the streets downtown and conduct their everyday business in their local community. After just a short time of the project being complete, this goal seems to have been a success.
Keller Associates completed the engineering design and construction administration for this project. The four city blocks are adorned with 55 decorative street lights, 80 trees of six different varieties with tree grates (Little Leaf Linden, Evelyn Hedge Maple, Japanese Pagota Tree, Japanese Tree Lilac, Columnar English Oak, and the Thornless Honeylocust), 2-feet of sidewalk pavers from the back of curb, new sidewalk where needed, and a new pocket park with a dedicated city Christmas tree.
The original intent was to complete one city block of East Main Street and perhaps, if money was available, complete one city block of West Main Street as well. With conscientious designing and low construction costs, the Rigby Urban Renewal Agency was able to encompass much more to the delight of the city, the community, and all the downtown businesses.
